The LA Lakers fall again to another defeat in the NBA as Portland Trail Blazers beat them 106-101 as Damian Lillard lead his side with 38 points, MySportPlug reports.
First Quarter Report Trail Blazers 34-22 LA Lakers
The first quarter of the encounter was poor from the visitors which the home side capitalized on thanks to the presence of their supports in which they playing at home for the first time over a year.
The home side after 8 minutes was already holding their opponent to a 6 points margin with no LeBron James, the visitors struggle to make anything happen despite Anthony Davis 8 points weren’t good enough.
Lillard helped his side found his range early and set the pace with 12 points as Portland built a 34-22 lead heading into the second quarter after another poor display from last season’s winners who miss their MVP.
Second Quarter Report Trail Blazers 25-33 LA Lakers
The second quarter was all about Lakers who had things going their way as Damian Lillard was dropped to the bench to rest which the visitors were good enough to deny the home side some chance of shooting from the 3 points line.
Portland was held back most of the time despite Lillard making a comeback into the court but it couldn’t stop the visitors as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope bully his way to easy buckets as they claimed the second quarter by 25-33.
Third Quarter Report Trail Blazers 23-23 LA Lakers
It was an evenly balanced third quarter which was all about Anthony Davis vs Damian Lillard who both scored double-digit points each for their teams with the game closely poised as they attacked and defended well.
Anthony Davis was able to get 12 points for the Lakers while Damian Lillard scored 11 points, it was clear that both sides couldn’t push further to make something extraordinary happen as the quarter progressed.
Fourth Quarter Report Trail Blazers 24-23 LA Lakers
Portland and Lakers struggled in the last quarter which some poor shooting was seen from them all through as they had to make sure they did push more to get that win in the encounter.
The home side took a 7-point lead with just under four minutes remaining, which was indeed the deal breaker for them as the game carried on until the end which saw ending with Trail Blazers 106-101 LA Lakers.
